CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The London community showed their pride for the Pirates' baseball team on Thursday as a parade was held to send the team off to the UIL Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.
The team was was escorted by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, and Corpus Christi Fire and Police Departments, as fans cheered from the side of the road.
This is London's fourth trip to state; the Pirates won a state title in 2022. They lost in the semifinal last year. No. 3 London will play No. 5 Brock at Dell Diamond in Round Rock in their third state matchup against them in the last four years.
The game is at 9 a.m. on Friday.
London will join Calallen in Central Texas as the Wildcats play in the 4A State Championship on Thursday in Austin.
"We want to say congratulations to Calallen for making the state final, we'll be rooting for you guys," London Co-Head Coach Albert Amaya said.
Amaya added that he appreciates support from fans as the Pirates look to advance to the state championship game.
"Ultimately, Coastal Bend, we're a community, the baseball community," he said. "We hope that we have all the fans supporting us and all the community from London and Corpus just to make that trip up there, or just to support us watching the game on the Internet. We appreciate the support, and we're looking to bring home that state championship."
