CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Veterans Memorial Eagles' baseball team has big expectations in 2024 after returning arguably a more talented team than the won one took home the district title last year.
The Eagles return about seven starters from that team that upset Ray in the disrict championship series, but now Coach Lee Yeager has a team with even more pitching depth thanks to some offseason transfers, including former Santa Gertrudis Academy ace Adin Ruiz.
Vets starts the year ranked #7 in the Texas High School Baseball POLL as the Eagles are looking to build off that district title and area round appearance. The Eagles say it's not just about the talent on the field, but also about building a true team before they try and work their way through a tough 29-5A South Zone.
The Eagles will open the season at the Laredo Border Olympics tournament Thursday, February 22nd through Saturday the 24th.
