Yankees' Trevino on hand for Centurion Golf Classic

The St. John Paul II grad was in town to help raise money for the athletic department.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a who's who hitting the links Friday morning at Gabe Lozano Golf Center for the first ever St. John Paul II Golf Classic, benefitting the school's athletic department.

Yankees Catcher and former Centurion Jose Trevino was on hand as was 3News' Alan Holt, who never turns down a round of golf. 3News had a chance to catch up with Trevino about giving back to the school that he says, "gave him everything."

"I was telling somebody yesterday, I feel like I (went from) a young boy to a young man with this school," Trevino said. "I spent so much time there and I want to see the school come back to life."

Several other dignitaries were on hand for the Centurion Classic, including Mayor Paulette Guajardo, Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody and Trevino's championship-winning coach, Steve Castillo.
