CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mathis Elementary students from Pre-K through second grade got a special treat Friday as community members came out to support the school with a 'Touch-A-Truck' event bringing school buses, tow trucks, police units and more.
The Pre-K teacher who organized it all, Tiffani Jurach, said the idea came to her because she wanted her students to see the different vehicles they learn about in person.
"So one of our units in Pre-K is transportation and so, we show them pictures all day long and they can see it, but seeing it in person I feel like gives it a more real-life experience, and so I wanted them to be able to touch and see all these vehicles that we've brought today," Jurach said.
She said this is only their second time organizing the event and hope to see it get bigger and better each year!
Mathis Elementary School principal Lacy Brauchle said she loves that her students get to have this experience because it gives them exposure to different careers!
