Islanders drop Southland preseason favorite New Orleans

The Islanders overcame a 10 point deficit to notch their fourth conference win.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Story Headlines-

- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi men's basketball team defeated the University of New Orleans, 74-71, on Wednesday evening in Southland Conference action.

- The Islanders improved to 8-12 overall and 4-5 in league play. The Privateers fall to 6-13 overall and 2-7 in Southland games.

- Jashawn Talton-Thomas scored a game-high 21 points with four rebounds and an assist. He was 8-for-11 from the field and hit all three of his long range attempts.

- Irshaad Hunte came of the bench to score 15 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field while leading the team in rebounding with six. He knocked down five free throws, added a steal and blocked a shot.

- The Islanders shot 57.4 percent for the game, the second-highest mark for the season. In the second half, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot 60 percent (15-for-25).

- The game was played on the Corpus Christi Athletic Club Court at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
