The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team kept its home record intact in dominate fashion, getting it done on both ends of the court to topple Texas Lutheran 94-45 Tuesday night in the American Bank Center.
The Islanders (4-3) finally pushed above .500 on the year with the win as well as continuing perfection on their home court at 4-0. The program moves to 157-81 all-time when playing at the American Bank Center following lopsided performance tonight against the Bulldogs (2-4).
Their 92 scored is the team's first 90+ point game since February 26, 2024, at HCU. It is the fifth game in a row that A&M-Corpus Christi netted over 80 points, doing so in every game since their season opener at #14 Purdue where they scored 73. All available student-athletes played at least 10 minutes tonight in the effort.
It is their second straight meeting with Texas Lutheran that they won by over double of what the Bulldogs scored. The 45 points allowed is also the second fewest A&M-Corpus Christi has conceded to the Bulldogs through the 6-0 record they hold over the opponent. The program is 21-0 over the last four season with head coach Jim Shaw on staff when holding their opponents to under 60 points.
The Islanders also held a huge advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Bulldogs 54-27. It is the first time the program has recorded over 50 boards in a game since they notched 55 against Dallas Christian on November 13, 2023, over a year ago.
It included 17 offensive rebounds, with junior Sheldon Williams pulling down five on both ends for his first double figure rebounding game of the season. He was the only player on the court tonight to end with at least 10 boards.
It is additionally the third win in a row for A&M-Corpus Christi, with every decision coming from shooting above 50.0 percent from the floor. Tonight, that mark was a 50.7 percent spearheaded by the fiery hands of junior Kam Parker who went 5-for-6 from the floor including 4-for-5 from three for a game-leading 15 points.
The 15 points set a new career high for him, as does the four made three pointers in the game. It is just the second double figure scoring game of his career, the previous coming from his then-best 12 points against Abilene Christian in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament back on March 19 to end last season.
That CIT banner was also unveiled tonight ahead of tip-off, recognizing and honoring the 2023-24 postseason appearance for the program.
Senior Garry Clark once again netted double digits on the scoring end with 11 tonight, going 4-for-5 from the field through just 15 minutes played. He has scored in double figures in every game this season. Extending from last season, he has scored 10+ points in his last 13 games played.
Redshirt-junior Stephen Giwa made his return to the court for the first time this season and came out with a strong showing off 11 points and seven rebounds. It is the eighth double figure scoring game of his career.
The Islanders will return to the American Bank Center Saturday to continue a six-game homestand, welcoming Prairie View A&M at 3:30 p.m.
