CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a great night for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi basketball teams, as both the men and women secured #2 seeds and a double bye in the Southland tournament next week with wins Wednesday at the American Bank Center.
The women started off the night with a 65-43 win over Incarnate Word to earn the spot in the Southland Semifinal. Nabaweeyah McGill lead the way with 14 points while Mireia Aguado had four steals. Texas A&M-CC will play Wednesday at 1:30 PM in Lake Charles (ESPN+).
The men had already locked in the #2 seed coming into play. Jim Shaw's team didn't shoot well early in a 71-52 win over the Cardinals, but were able to clamp down defensively until the shots started falling. Garry Clark and Owen Dease each lead the way with 12 points. The Islanders now await their opponent as they'll next hit the court Tuesday at 8 PM in Lake Charles (ESPN+).
