The Major League Baseball Draft already saw once Coastal Bend product get picked over the weekend and on Tuesday, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi pitcher Matthew Watson heard his named called as well.
Watson was selected in the 13th round by the San Diego Padres (390 overall). The righty out of Arkansas stands a staggering 6'5." He went 3-4 with a 3.74 ERA and 74 strikeouts in his redshirt junior season.
Watson is the 15th Islander to be drafted in program history and if he does sign with San Diego, he'll be the 17th to play pro ball.
