Ferry operations had to cease temporarily as Orion Marine Group removes sections of dredge pipe from the water, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

PORT ARANSAS (Kiii News) — Officials warned that the Port Aransas Ferry will be out of service for up to two hours starting 10 a.m. Tuesday during a dredging project operation, but the was reopened at a little over 15 minutes.

Ferry operations had to cease temporarily as Orion Marine Group removes sections of dredge pipe from the water, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The pipe was submerged in front of ferry landing on the Port Aransas side back in April. It's part of an ongoing dredging project to remove sands deposited in the Corpus Christi ship channel during Hurricane Harvey.

The operation was complete and the ferry resumed operations at around 10:16 a.m. Tuesday.

You can check on the ferry's status by calling 361-749-2850.
