Triple-digit weather temperatures will mean Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Impact Alert Days in the Coastal Bend. A temperature north of 100 degrees is one of the criteria for issuing an alert day.
Wednesday will be hot. High temperatures in the lower 100s in Corpus Christi, which will be near record warmth. The record high for the date is 100.
The heat index will quickly rise to over 100° on Wednesday morning; likely by around 10am in the morning. It'll stay over 100° through the evening, maxing out at around 112 in Corpus Christi.
Some locations will top out over 115 on the heat index, which would mean that the weather service may have another excessive heat advisory for parts of the area, Wednesday.
The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature will also be in the 'extreme' category, Wednesday. The Wet bulb globe temperature is a value that accounts for things like air temperature, humidity, sun angle, wind, and cloud overage. It'll be in the extreme category again on Thursday.
By Friday, air temperatures start to top out below 100°, which will mean we remove the weather impact alert tag from our forecasts.
Reminder, do not leave pets, elderly, or children in a car that is not on with A/C running. With air temperatures up around 100° the temperature inside a car that is turned off with the windows up could reach 120 in just 10 minutes and over 140 after an hour.
Holt out
There is some hope for slightly cooler temperatures heading into next week. Head here for the latest on that and the rest of the forecast, which includes a chance for rain.
