CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We are calling for two Weather Impact Alert days Tuesday and Wednesday. The reason, 70% of our forecast area getting rain.
A flood watch is in effect for Nueces, San Patricio, Refugio, Aransas, Kleberg, Jim Wells, Duval, and McMullen County until 7 PM Wednesday evening. Runoff may lead to flooding in streets and low lying areas.
Because this rain is tropical in nature, some of it will come down heavy, dropping an inch or two of rain in an hour's time. This could create localized street ponding and reduce visibility if you encounter one while driving. Probably a good idea to have some rain gear handy.
Near the coast, the best shot at showers and storms will be in the morning hours of Monday Tuesday. Activity then spreads inland during the afternoon. However, rain will be possible throughout the area for most of the day.
Rainfall totals will likely be on the order of several inches. The trend will be to observe higher values near the coast and lower totals inland. Locally higher amounts are possible. Forecast totals in the graphic below is for the next three days.
It's looking like rain chances will trend down on Thursday and Friday, so while rain is still possible, we are not expecting to reach the coverage necessary for us to go with Weather Impact Alert Days.
