CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Father Peter Martinez is responsible for two large prep school bodies focused on preparing Corpus Christi students for the future.
He says that the state of education has changed, and that support is necessary for student success.
That's where the Black & Gold event comes in. It's a fundraising event that features a live concert, dinner and an auction. The money raised will go toward school operations and tuition assistance to help provide opportunities to students who might not otherwise have them.
"Our schools, all of our schools, need a lot of support, and his is one of the ways we can do it, with this event," said Martinez. "Our students are not a number, we're a family. It's a community."
The event will feature an exciting country music performance by a 2013 John Paul II graduate, Robert Ray. Father Martinez says there is still time to purchase tickets and get involved in the event.
Individual tickets are $150, which includes complimentary beer and wine. There will be a live auction and a silent auction. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m.
If you do not want to go to the program, you can go to the concert only for $50.
