CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures and Education Center welcomed in the Year of the Dragon today with activities for the whole family.
The event included traditional Lion Dances, Folklore readings and food trucks.
The museum in Corpus Christi is the only Asian culture museum within thousands of miles.
Director of Operations for the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures, Richard Hafemeister, considers it a privilege for our area.
"It is always a great feeling getting a chance to both do the outreach and allow people to interact with the arts and cultures and the themes," said Hafemeister. "Do the education allow people to learn the history and the information and because we are a museum we're always able to do both."
There are plenty of events at the museum that are set for the spring and summer, including their 50th birthday.
