'Sky High Rollers' annual casino night raises funds for emergency service

The non-profit holds three events a year to help raise funds that allow them to continue to help South Texans.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 'Sky High Rollers' annual casino night saw a huge turn out at the American Bank Center Friday night.

The popular event is held in an effort to keep HALO-Flight's lifesaving operation in the air.

HALO-Flight is a non-profit air ambulance service that depends on donations from the public and is the only air ambulance service for South Texans.

Many gathered to roll the dice for the cause, casino games filled the floor with attendees gambling on their chances to win big.

In addition to casino games, the event also included live music, dinner, a cash bar and prizes benefitting HALO-Flight safety enhancements.

HALO-Flight CEO, Travis Patterson, says their work year-round wouldn't be possible without events like casino night.

"We cannot do this stuff without the support of the community," Patterson said. " In 2023 alone we flew about 1,300 patient flights, an average of about three a day. We do that regardless of the patients' ability to pay."

The non-profit hosts three events a year to raise funds that allow them to continue their mission here in South Texas.
