CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi, get ready to take unos Tragos Amargos as we say goodbye to El Rey del Acordeon Ramon Ayala.
The 78-year-old norteño legend is making the Selena Auditorium one of the finals stops of his touring career at 8 p.m. Sept. 28.
The American Bank Center announced the show -- part of his "El Principio de un Final" tour -- on its Facebook page Monday.
The Hidalgo-based artist is known for hits such as "La Rama del Mezquite" and "Un Rinconsito en el Cielo," and having been a member of one of the genre's founding groups Los Relámpagos del Norte, along with Cornelio Reyna in the 1960s. They went their separate ways in the 1970s.
Ayala then formed his band Los Bravos del Norte, which has won four GRAMMYs and two Latin GRAMMYs.
Tickets go on sale Friday.
