Beat the Heat with some lemonade at the Boys & Girls Club, and help support young entrepreneurs

If you missed last Saturday's citywide Lemonade Day event, don't worry The Boys & Girls Club 'Lemon Squeeze Squad' has got you covered!

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Meteorologist Carly Smith says we're under a heat advisory from noon-7 p.m.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend is holding its Lemonade Day-Coastal Bend event from 1-5 p.m. Friday. 

Coincidence? We think not.

If you missed last Saturday's citywide Lemonade Day event, don't worry The Boys & Girls Club "Lemon Squeeze Squad" has got you covered!

Staff will be teaching Boys & Girls Summer Camp participants about strategy, and supply and demand, by holding a Lemonade Day event almost a week after the competition from 1-5 p.m. Friday at 2902 Greenwood Dr.

Lemonade is just $1, and baked goods will be for sale starting at $0.50. The kids will even have some arts & crafts for sale!

The campers have been working on the Young Entrepreneurs curriculum with Lemonade Day Coastal Bend, said Hope Rangel, the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce's Lemonade Day City Director and Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion.

Lemonade Day teaches kids about all aspects of running a business. 

Kids who participate in the official program register through the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, and learn about various aspects of entrepreneurship, including how to "set goals, develop a business plan, establish a budget, seek investors and provide customer service," according to the event website. 

They also get to keep the money they earn, and more than half of the participants will be donating part of their earnings to nonprofit organizations, Rangel said.
