CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Coastal Bend couple is celebrating a special milestone in their lives. Charles and Sandra Whetstone are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Their wedding ceremony was a bit special as family and friends took a boat, some even swam to arrive to their location which was on "Sunfish Island." This small island was off of the bayfront near the Harbor Bridge
Although the island doesn't exist anymore, their love has stand the test of time and both say their love for each other is stronger than ever.
"I think it's going to be a very beautiful remembrance of the 50 years that we've been together. I think we're very blessed to have those years and he's my best friend. And I'm so happy we've been together 50 years," Sandra said.
"I know that the love that we have is special, I know the love she has for me is special. We have a great respect for each other, and adoration for each other. It goes back that day at that coffee shop, that same emotion I had back then I have every day," Charles said.
The Whetstone's youngest daughter Sarah said her parents are a great example of what it means to chose and commit to someone during the good and bad times.
