CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Esten Chavez was sentenced to four decades in prison after being convicted in the drive-by shooting death of 20-year-old Roslyn Ramon in 2021.
He was sentenced to 40 years for murder, 20 for aggravated assault and 10 for deadly conduct in Judge Missy Medary's 347th District Court on Thursday.
He will serve those sentences concurrently.
Chavez was found guilty of the killing -- which happened two years ago -- just after 2 a.m. in the 6000 block of Holly Road, when Corpus Christi Police Department investigators said Chavez fired into a vehicle Ramon was driving.
Four others were in the vehicle; only one was other was hit and suffered minor injuries, police said at the time.
Ramon had been a CCPD Law Enforcement Explorer before she died.
