CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Blood Center is in need of more Type O blood donations. The organization took to social media to ask the community for help.
Last summer, 3News spoke with Community Outreach and Education Coordinator of the Coastal Bend Blood Center, Ashley Ramirez, about donations they receive in the summer. At the time, she said "We tend to see a decline in our blood donation due to the fact high school students account for 30-percent of our blood supply, obviously they are out of school, plus all the distractions that come with summer people are taking vacations, people are out shopping, we know it's gonna be a tough time every single summer."
The drop in blood donations in the summer brings a bigger spotlight on the need for the need for Type O blood. For a list of locations to donate, click here.
