Corpus Christi Comic Con 2024 brought people together for nostalgia and fun

"It's such a wonderful community to dive into regardless of who you are, your background, your age and everyone would love to meet you," said Ottie Eli.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 2024 Corpus Christi Comic Con at the American Bank Center has officially wrapped up.

Every year hundreds of vendors and popular TV and film actors show up for a weekend of nostalgia and fun between the stars and their fans, like Christian Serratos, best known for her role as Selena and Lou Diamond Phillips.

We were able to catch up with a few Comic Con-goers who explained how this event helps creates a safe space to make new friends and network with others over shared interests.

"I think one of the best things of the cosplay community is that it's brought together out of the passion of it," said Kit Noel, local cosplayer. "So, there's so many people that you have no idea what happens when they go home. You have no idea what they are dealing with they can be going through very serious issues and we come here and have fun ... It's a nice break from everything."

The overall turnout at Comic Con was a success and gave exposure to local businesses.

Ottie Eli a local cosplayer was very grateful to attend this year and was amazed to see so many locals branch out.

"Cosplay is for everyone and everybody who comes here is so welcoming happy and supportive of one another we're all just here to have a good time," said Eli. "It's such a wonderful community to dive into regardless of who you are, your background, your age and everyone would love to meet you."

If you missed out on this Comic Con, it's never too early to start preparing your costume for next year.
