City manager talks 2024 projects

According to Zanoni, a significant project will be ready for use in different parts of the city just about every month between now and December.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — During Tuesday's city council meeting, Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni gave an update on 16 capital projects that are expected to be finished in 2024, which includes the newly opened Sherwood Dog Park.

Other projects that will be finished by the summer are the Packery Channel dredging and beach nourishment work that will widen the beach and should allow parts of the it to re-open to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

There will also be an updated city hall meeting space for the council, upgrades to the Gabe Lozano Golf Course, new lights for the seawall miradors and a new splash pad and playground upgrade at Cole Park.

According to Zanoni, a significant project will be ready for use just about every month between now and December.

"As I mentioned, what's important for the community to know is that there's one in just about every section of our community, whether it's Calallen or the beach," Zanoni said.

Additional projects expected to be completed during the second half of the year include the restoration of the downtown Water Garden, a new North Beach Park and completion of the Bill Witt Aquatic Center.

By the time the year ends, we will also have a new police training facility, the replacement of Fire Station #3 and the expansion of Labonte Park.
