CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The weather did not stop the flood of people headed to Saturday's 38th annual Jewish Food Festival.
Community members and even out-of-towners gathered at Congregation Beth Israel to celebrate the synagogue's annual event.
The festival featured music, raffles, entertainment and other attractions.
One major highlight of the event was a vintage shop, which organizers said gets people to hang around the space for a while. But what gets people in the door, as always, is the food.
Rikki Schmitchel, former president of the Congregation Beth Israel Sisterhood spoke in delicious detail about some of the dishes featured at the festival.
"We really appreciate the Corpus Christi community braving the weather today, it's pouring down rain, but our devoted fans are here for some great cabbage rolls and brisket plates and delicious chicken salad."
While Saturday was a time for the community to come together and celebrate, the ongoing war in Gaza still hung heavily in the air at the synagogue.
Pictures all of the Israeli hostages were taped to the seats in the sanctuary as a reminder of the many lives affected.
