CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The community of Rockport paid tribute to their fallen officers on Peace Officers Memorial Day, gathering outside the police station with city leaders to remember the commitment to serve exemplified by those officers.
"The fact that we have to get up in the morning and put on a gun to come to work because of the people around us, and what goes on in our communities is a reminder every day for those who have lost their lives," said Sheriff Bill Mills of Aransas County.
"And [I] ask you to keep those families in your prayers and remember them as they will spend a lifetime without their loved ones."
That service ended with another prayer to protect all law enforcement serving today as they continue to keep our community safe.
