CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A burial was held for unaccompanied veteran, Sieglinde Juanita Shindler, on Friday at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
These services are held for those who served our country but have no immediate family members to attend their services.
The commander of Texas VFW Post 8932 Howard Schauer said that these services are important in helping support our veterans.
"Each time I come to one of these, it runs through my mind is, ‘What if I was in this position and I had no family,' you know, so it's really important to be here and take care of our veterans that have passed away,” said Schauer.
Shindler received a variety of awards while serving, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and an Army Commendation Medal.
