CCPD continues found human remains investigation at Greenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant

There's no evidence at this time that these human remains are in any way connected to the disappearance of Caleb Harris.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police Department officers were at the Greenwood Wastewater Treatment Plant in connection with Monday's discovery of human remains in a wastewater lift station near Ennis Joslin Road.

"Yes, we can confirm they were just continuing the investigation," department public information officer Antonio Contreras confirmed to 3NEWS on Tuesday.

Human remains were found inside of a wastewater installment at Lexington and Holly Road, CCPD said Monday.

Contreras said police responded at 3:31 p.m. after a city water employee found human remains in a wastewater collection point.

The collection point, which is around 40 ft. deep, was full of wastewater and had to be drained safely before CCFD crews could attempt to retrieve the remains. Those who searched had to wear HAZMAT suits.

There's no evidence at this time that these human remains are in any way connected to the disappearance of Caleb Harris. However, the location -- not far from Harris' apartment complex -- is fueling online speculation.

Randy Harris, Caleb Harris’ father says they have been made aware of Monday’s developments. CCPD could not confirm the identity of the remains. The Harris family will be waiting on the medical examiner.

Medical examiners are on site and will need to assess the remains before an identity is released, Contreras said.

Police Chief Mike Markle was present at the scene on Monday night.

Digital director Ana Tamez contributed to this story. 3NEWS will provide updates as they become available.
