CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline hosted this year's Health Simulation and Improvement Symposium.
The event allows physicians and clinical associates to perfect their skills and test their readiness to recognize and respond to potential patient emergencies using mannequins.
Students from different schools were also able to explore the world of simulation-based learning to help them practice and feel more comfortable in a controlled environment.
Senior at Annapolis Christian Academy, Alison Deforge, was thankful for the opportunity to practice alongside professionals.
"I'm so grateful, it's so interesting because not many people get this opportunity especially in high school it's only very specialized people and so opening this facility up for all of us to see what's actually going on is so helpful," Deforge said.
The simulation symposium also allowed medical partners such as HALO-flight, EMS and SWAT team members to work together to develop new scenarios for training.
