CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hurricane season is creeping up on us and it is important to prepare in advance.
It can take only one hurricane to impact an area for years and being ready to carry out a plan will ensure your safety.
At this year's Coastal Bend Hurricane Conference out at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown, hundreds were able to learn about increased awareness, preparedness and protection when it comes to our property and belongings.
"We need to be mindful to care for ourselves in this region and know that food, water electricity, a generator is the most important thing and when they say to evacuate please do consider evacuating because it takes hours and hours to leave this community and to find a safe haven," Nueces County Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator Kathy Ard-Blattner said.
Events like this show you what you can expect and that it's never too early to start preparing.
Mark your calendars because here at 3NEWS our weather team will be airing a Hurricane Special June 1 at 6:30 p.m.!
