CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new week brings renewed focus in the search for missing college student Caleb Harris. The 21-year-old was last seen or heard from after walking his dog at his off-campus apartment last Monday.
3NEWS found a group of volunteers hitting the pavement where Holly Road runs into Oso Bay out in Flour Bluff.
Leading the search was Nina Glass, who runs a search and rescue non-profit out of San Antonio.
"Wooded areas, grassy areas, the nature preserve, some parks, bodies of water, everything we can; we came down with underwater drones," Glass said.
When she heard about Caleb's story, she felt compelled to help and now has been here several days tracking down any leads, hopeful he can be found.
"I always try to tell families we are going to keep doing it until we can give you some closure one way or another," she said.
The search also brought the group to the Laguna Madre at Dimitt Pier in Flour Bluff where they scanned the water line, thick brush and vegetation. It's where they came across a homeless encampment, but unfortunately nothing that connected to Caleb.
Among those helping in the search, were the sister and a friend of a young man named Ivie Joe Gutierrez.
He was reported missing in February 2022.
"Everyone deserves to be found, we are here to locate both of them," Ivie's friend Darian Ronje said. "The search for Caleb is going to bring light to our situation as well and bring closure to both of our families, I wouldn't want Caleb's family to feel the void that we have for the last two to three years."
The search spurred a social media post of others who have gone missing here in the Coastal Bend. The post highlighted five people who have gone missing in or near Corpus Christi the last 5 years.
3NEWS looked into the cases which date back to 2019's disappearance of 36 year old Bradley Brooks.
Ivie Joe Gutierrez who was reported missing at the age of 27.
Jesse Garcia from Pleasanton who was going on a fishing trip and was last seen in or near Robstown in June 2023.
Most recent cases in Corpus Christi include Alison Tackett who was reported missing February 22, 2024.
Jerry Zamora has been missing for over a week. In a public social media post, Zamora's father said he has a medical condition that affects his memory and comprehension. He was last seen at The Oso Creek Trails off of Cimarron and Yorktown area.
Authorities confirm these cases are still active.
3NEWS was told the search for Harris will pick up early Tuesday morning by the same group that was out Monday.
They will be focusing on the dunes on Padre Island.
There is a Facebook page dedicated to bringing Caleb home.
