CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — TxDOT contractors will close the southbound US 77 direct connector to southbound I-37 direct connector Tuesday night to allow crews to safely set beams as part of the I-37 Nueces River Bridge Reconstruction Project.
The lanes will close at 9 p.m. on Tuesday and are expected to reopen Wednesday at 6 a.m.
Commuters were delayed in the southbound lanes last week when the roads remained closed until 10:30 a.m. after contractors reportedly ran into unexpected hiccups while setting beams along the same highway.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes, as delays are expected during the closure.
If you want to access southbound I-37, you can use SH 234. The southbound US 77 to northbound I-37 direct connector will remain open.
Drivers are also reminded to slow down in the work zone and watch for workers and equipment.
All work is weather permitting. Lane closures are subject to change without notice.
