CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Ticket sales went live for the Corpus Christi Tritons shortly after the city's latest American Indoor Football League team rang in the New Year two weeks ago. The team's first slate of matchups promise family fun, theme nights and entertainment, including performances from the Triton's official dance team, the Corpus Christi Sirens.
Megan Reyna is the Sirens' Dance Coordinator. She says that she is hoping to attract those with dance and cheerleading experience from Corpus Christi and surrounding areas tryout for the team's second ever dance audition on Saturday, Jan. 20. The audition will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Freedom Fitness on Saratoga.
"If they have that passion for dance and would love to be a part of a team that will also be involved in the community, I think it would be a great experience for them."
The Tritons football players have already been involved in some charity events around the city, including a gift-wrapping partnership with CASA of the Coastal Bend at La Palmera ahead of the Christmas holiday.
The Sirens held their first ever tryout on the first Saturday of the new year, and Reyna says she is excited about the prospect of a second.
"If they were unable to make [the first] tryout, we will be having another one soon and to look out for that. For updates they can follow our Facebook page," said Reyna.
"We are definitely looking for someone that has some kind of dance or cheer experience. It’s going to be an adult team so ages 18 and up is the age group we are targeting."
According to Reyna, being a part of the Sirens is an opportunity to make take part in a brand-new journey in the city.
"They should come support the Tritons because it’ll be a new and exciting experience to be a part of in Corpus Christi."
The Corpus Christi Tritons will call the American Bank Center their home while they gear up for the 2024 season. Their first game is scheduled for Mar. 17 at 3:05 p.m.
