Parts of Crosstown Expressway closed due to rain, flooding

Effective Immediately, the Northwest Loop Ramp connecting to southbound SH 286 is closed due to extreme weather, according to the Harbor Bridge Project.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Harbor Bridge Project crews have temporarily closed the Northwest Loop Ramp connecting to the Crosstown Expressway on SH 286, according to a press release.

Intermittent closures are expected to occur as heavy downpours continue in the Coastal Bend.

Drivers heading southbound on US 181 to southbound SH 286 will be detoured to take the Port Avenue/Nueces Bay Boulevard exit, make a U-turn at Nueces Bay Boulevard, and continue southbound on I-37 to the direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286.

Motorists leaving the Bayfront area to southbound SH 286 will continue northbound on I-37, take the Port Ave/Nueces Bay Blvd exit, make a U-turn at Nueces Bay Blvd, and continue southbound on I-37 to the direct connector ramp for southbound SH 286.

Crews are on location to remove debris and direct traffic to continue along the frontage road.

Motorists are urged to proceed through the I-37 and SH 286 interchange with extreme caution and be prepared for additional closures if flooding persists.

You should avoid driving while flooding conditions exist, consider using alternate routes, follow all traffic control devices, and slowdown in the work zones.
