CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A woman is dead, and a man is in critical condition following a major crash in Aransas Pass on Wednesday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says that around 1:30 p.m., the 76-year-old woman was traveling southbound on State Highway 35 with her passenger, a 76-year-old man.
That's when authorities say she hydroplaned due to rain and swerved into oncoming traffic about 6 miles south of Holiday Beach and collided with a semi-truck.
The woman died at the scene, while the passenger was medevaced to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi. He remains in critical condition.
The driver of the semi-truck was transported to an area emergency room and was treated for minor injuries.
Both driver and passenger were from Louisiana.
DPS continues to investigate this crash.
