CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College's veteran services department gathered to honor Veterans Day with a two bell ceremony on Monday.
The time-honored tradition recognizes service veterans from all branches of the US Military.
Veterans Affairs Specialist Christopher Arcega explained that the two bell ceremony originated from old Navy days when they used the sound to dictate time on the ship before watches and clocks.
Monday's ringing of the bell was completed with a special birthday celebration for the US Marines which rang in 249 years on Sunday.
