GREGORY, Texas — Gregory-Portland ISD wants to invite all incoming freshman to learn about the incoming educational opportunities available to them. Hilda Salinas spoke with us for First Edition this morning to talk about the annual Academic and CTE Showcase. She says the event will introduce incoming GP freshman to programs offered at the high school and introduce them to the school's industry partners.
The school's partners include companies like Exxon, Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, Kiewit, and higher education bodies in the Coastal Bend like TAMU-CC and Del Mar College. Educate to Texas will be there as well.
The freshmen will be able to tour the high school, see their classrooms and meet with teachers.
The program will also be opened for sophomore and junior level students. The showcase will kick off after school on Thursday, Feb. 8 at G.P. High School.
Parents will also have the opportunity to participate in the program. They'll have the chance to learn about how students can take advantage of the resources on campus.
