CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Devin Peña received a 40-year sentence Friday for his role in a fatal 2023 shooting that left 19-year-old Isaac Garcia dead. His father, Benjamin Pena, was given 10 years in prison.
Devin and Benjamin Peña were found guilty of murder Thursday in Judge Bobby Galvan's 94th District Court.
Prosecutors said Devin Peña shot Garcia last February in the Mission Plaza Shopping Center on Ayers and left him for dead.
According to Corpus Christi Police Department officers, a shootout took place between the occupants of several vehicles at the scene.
Garcia was shot and later died at a local hospital, and that the Peñas and Garcia knew each other before the shooting.
