SAN PATRICIO COUNTY, Texas — Two people were taken to the hospital following a major crash involving just south of Mathis overnight.
The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office said that shortly before 11 p.m. on Thursday, an 18-wheeler travelling on State Hwy. 188 went over the overpass and crashed down onto Interstate 37, causing three other vehicles to hit it.
At least one of those vehicles erupted into flames.
Firefighters and EMS remained on the scene as two people were medevaced to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate this crash.
