CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Late Wednesday night, Izaiah Salinas was apprehended by authorities in the Rockport area, according to the Alice Police Department. Salinas was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his mother, Irene Torres, who police also arrested and charged with harboring a fugitive.

Authorities said the young man is wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place in Alice on Oct. 24.

Salinas reportedly chased down a car before opening fire on its occupants. A chase then ensued with him allegedly firing shots next to an apartment complex off of Easterling Street before taking off.

Law enforcement officers took Salinas into custody without incident Wednesday, and he was then taken to the Nueces County Jail, where he is currently being held. Both he and his mother are awaiting further legal proceeding.

The Alice Police Department collaborated with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Texas Department of Public Safety and several other agencies, including Texas Ranger Robert Montalvo, CCPD and the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office.

This is a developing story.
