Once a year, Texas Parks and Wildlife lifts the requirement for free fishing day.
It is all meant to help more people have an *ex-squids-it time fishing for the first time.
However, if you plan on fishing in federal waters --keep in mind-- that a license is needed for the private recreational angler red snapper season which opens Saturday.
