G-PISD Operations and Family Resource Center breaks ground in Gregory on Wednesday

A clothing closet and full food pantry will be available at the center.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Gregory-Portland community gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the G-P ISD Operations and Family Resource Center on Wednesday.

Students will now have access to a new computer lab geared to elevate learning and collaboration, but on top of what is being offered will also be a clothing closet and a full food pantry to provide support for families in need.

The project was as part of the Bond 2023 package passed by voters at a very high rate and districts leaders say that shows the commitment of the community to better the future of students.

"This is a brand new facility here and as far as supporting our community of Gregory, this is really the birthplace of our school district here in Gregory, and so we are really thrilled to have this showpiece really of a facility that's a welcome center and it also has some community spaces that our community members will be able to be a part of," Superintendent Dr. Michelle Cavazos said.
