CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Later Thursday afternoon, the new George and Barbara Bush Family Place Library playgroup area at the Owen R. Hopkins Public Library is expected to open.
The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation invests in expanding programs and resources for families of children to age three.
The program transforms libraries into vibrant community centers for early literacy, parental education, and family support.
The ribbon cutting is set to take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
A reminder --Coastal Bend children can get a reward for reading this summer.
It's for the Corpus Christi Public Library's summer reading program.
All six libraries will be participating starting Saturday.
Kids who hit the books can earn stamps, tokens, and challenge prizes.
If you read enough --you can enter into a drawing for a free kindle or receive a three-month youth membership to the YMCA.
