CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCPD announced over the weekend that Sr. Ofc. Vicente Ortiz died from injuries sustained from a vehicle striking him on his motorcycle while he was working traffic control during a funeral procession on May 21.
The Coastal Bend community continues to honor the police veteran of 15-years with a memorial.
Ortiz will always be remembered not only for his career but for the type of person he was.
Someone who was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Ortiz family and as of Sunday they have now raised 19,000 dollars of the 60,000-dollar goal.
