CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An Ingleside ISD student was hit by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk near San Angelo Street and Blaschke Sheldon Elementary on Friday morning.
Ingleside Police Department said in a release that a driver going through the area didn't see the child because of the angle of the sun and Friday morning's heavy fog, which covered much of San Patricio County, and that the accident was not due to speed or distracted driving.
The district said the student received medical attention, and was taken by EMS to a local medical facility.
The student's condition was unknown as of Friday afternoon.
The district also said counseling would be available for students who witnessed the accident, and it would be looking into ways to avoid similar accidents in the future.
