CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A celebration of life is scheduled Wednesday to remember 2017 Calallen High School graduate Jared Hunt.

Hunt and 50-year-old Colin Ocker were killed after the recreational boat they were on was involved in a crash with a commercial vessel July 13.

The solemn event will take place at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds' Ballroom B, 1213 Terry Shamsie Rd. in Robstown.

Hunt and his brother Carter participated in the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show in their youth raising lambs, and Jared remained active in the organization after graduating from Texas A&M University in 2022. He was to serve as Market Lamb Supervisor for the 2025 show.

A GoFundMe has been established in his honor, which family and friends said will create scholarships and give to philanthropic efforts that were close to Jared Hunt's heart: the NCJLS, Sea City Work Camp, the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students Ring Scholarship fund and the Phi Theta Delta fraternity's efforts to help dependents of those with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS).

Jared served as SCWC youth leader, youth dean, assistant foreman, and foreman in 2023 and 2024 and belonged to the Phi Theta Delta fraternity.

He is survived by his parents Jeff and Lisa Carter Hunt, his brother Carter (Emily) Hunt and grandparents.
