CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A woman was reunited with her beloved tortoise over the weekend, according to Jim Wells County Pct 5 Constable Gerald Arismendez.
The animal, named, "Bae," had quite the adventure this past week, leading authorities on a mission to track down leads as they followed up on multiple "Bae" sightings in different parts of north Jim Wells County, according to the constable.
The law enforcement officer took to Facebook on Sunday night, saying he first received a text message from Orange Grove Chief of Police, Hector Valverde last Tuesday, asking for assistance in reuniting the owner, reportedly a cancer patient, with "Bae."
The woman said she was missing the tortoise very much and hoped they would be reunited soon, as she was experiencing a very challenging time.
As fate would have it, it was confirmed on Friday that Bae was being cared for at a home in Precinct 1, just north of Alice while the property owner and his family served as a foster parent until her proper owner was located.
Precinct 1 Constable Albert Martinez, Chief Valverde and Constable Arismendez reportedly met with Mr. Hector Munoz, and thanked the family for their assistance in caring for "Bae" so well.
Chief Valverde then transported "Bae" back to her home in Orange Grove and reunited the tortoise with her owner.
