CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Four fortunate families had a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Academy on Wednesday.
They had the opportunity to enjoy a $1,000 Christmas shopping spree with none other than Major League Baseball's Jose Trevino, who is also a proud native of Coastal Bend.
Currently situated on the East Coast playing for the New York Yankees, he retained his Southern spirit, eager to give back to his hometown community.
"I just hope that this is a memory for them that they carry for a little bit," he said. "I wish I could help everybody out, but this is special. I hold a special place in my heart for this community and I think everybody knows that and I'm excited to see everyone."
Trevino is in town for multiple events, including a home run derby for kids at Whataburger Field.
