KINGSVILLE, Texas — The city of Kingsville has officially offered its police chief's job to John Blair, the current Deputy Chief of Police for the Cook County Sheriff's Department.
Blair was reportedly the top choice among the three finalists. The other two finalists were from Laredo and El Paso.
According to Blair's LinkedIn page, he has 29 years of law enforcement experience with the Cook County Sheriff's police department. He now serves as Deputy Chief of Police, where he is responsible for the Street Crimes Suppression division and the Emergency Services Division.
Kingsville city manager Mark McLaughlin told 3News he is looking for Blair to come in and bring the department together.
"What I'm looking for my next police chief to do is build the teamwork with a concentration of what are we doing today but where do we need to be a year from now, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years from now."
The city manager offered the job to Blair early Friday morning, and he hopes to here that the lone finalist will sign the contract to become the new chief after Ricardo Torres retired from the position back in August.
