CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Fire Department crews extinguished a large structure fire at the D & D Decks and Docks business on Padre Island located along the 15800 block of South Padre Island Drive Wednesday night.
Crews responded around 10:40 p.m. after a passerby reported that the building was on fire, according to Battalion Chief Robin McGill. The business was unoccupied at the time.
The owner of the business, Taylor Floyd, arrived to the scene quickly after customers shared Facebook posts about the fire with him. He told 3NEWS that he is glad no one was working or in the shop at the time of the fire.
"It's going to be a challenge, but we know the Lord is with us so we'll get through it," Floyd said.
No injuries have been reported, however one firefighter was briefly treated for heat exhaustion, according to CCFD officials.
McGill said since the winds are not very strong at the time, brush fires are not a concern.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
