CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Family Dentistry by Baria Yassin hosted its 6th annual free tooth-pulling event Wednesday morning.
Dentist Dr. Rony Yassin told 3NEWS the event is a tribute to Dr. Baria's late mother.
"Her mom, who has since passed, was known to be very generous and giving, so she wanted in her own way -- her own capacity to honor her mother," he said. "To have a day that she sort of gives back to the community."
Nelly Diaz, a registered dental assistant with the office said the free extractions are meant to address the unmet dental needs in the Coastal Bend.
"We are hoping to help anyone who might need it. We know with the holidays coming up people can put it off." If you have a painful infection, Diaz said it can spread and you should consider attending the event.
Diaz said they hope to help as many people as they can who might be holding off on scheduling costly tooth extractions due to the holidays. She said those painful infected teeth can spread, and it is important for those who need extractions not to put them off.
