CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A group of students from the Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock came to South Texas to lend a helping hand.
On Wednesday the students assisted Mission 9-1-1 as they settle into their new location on Old Robstown Road and Leopard Street by assembling exercise equipment, moving furniture and doing yardwork.
Member of the church, Caleb Horn, told 3NEWS that volunteering helps them build a sense of purpose.
"Know that you're not just helping problems, you're helping people, you know, you're getting to do kind things for people but also let them do kind things for you," Horn said. "You get to know people and remind each other that all people have humanity."
The volunteers' hard work helped Mission 911 stay on track to open their new facility by this September.
