Texas Rangers, DPS investigating man hit and killed following motorcycle crash

The vehicle that hit the 29-year-old man was found the next day.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas Ranger and DPS officials are investigating after a man was killed June 21 following a motorcycle crash just south of Calallen.

DPS officials told 3NEWS that 29-year-old Matthew Gray was on his motorcycle approaching the US-77 ramp when he drove over a concrete curb and hit a median, causing him to fly off his bike.

Gray was able to get up and walk following the crash, but a Corpus Christi RTA bus driver told police Gray was then hit by a passing vehicle shortly after.

Officials say the driver who hit him pulled over into a parking lot before leaving the scene.

Gray was pronounced dead at Spohn Shoreline Hospital.

The vehicle that hit him was found the next day, the crash and hit-and-run are under investigation.
